The City of Pasadena is inviting residents and community partners to review and provide feedback on its draft updated 2025 Local Hazard Mitigation Plan, a comprehensive strategy designed to reduce risks to human life, property, and infrastructure from natural and human-caused disasters. The plan addresses threats including earthquakes, wildfires, and flooding that could impact the community.

The Local Hazard Mitigation Plan serves as a long-term framework to protect the city from future hazards while ensuring eligibility for federal mitigation funding. According to the city, community input is vital in shaping the plan to better address local needs.

“By participating in the review process, you can help refine the strategies and actions outlined, ensuring they are practical, inclusive, and effective for Pasadena’s unique needs,” the city stated in announcing the public review period.

The comprehensive document identifies specific hazards affecting Pasadena and profiles the associated risks to the community. It outlines the city’s current capabilities to implement mitigation projects and provides a detailed strategy to minimize the impacts of these hazards in the future.

The city is encouraging all residents to review the draft plan and complete a short feedback survey to contribute ideas for improvement.

The draft updated 2025 Local Hazard Mitigation Plan is available online at Bit.ly/LocalHazardMitigationPlan2025, while the feedback survey can be accessed at Bit.ly/LHMPsurvey.

Community members with questions or comments about the hazard mitigation plan can contact Pasadena Emergency Services Manager Nallely Procopio at:

The public feedback period represents a critical opportunity for residents to help shape disaster preparedness strategies that will guide the city’s emergency management efforts in the coming years.
