Pasadena-Based Scratch Financial Partners to Streamline Dental Care Financing for Patients Nationwide

Pasadena-based financial technology company Scratch Financial Inc. said it is partnering with Wellfit Technologies, Inc. to help dental patients across the country access financing, payments, and affordable dental plans.

The partnership aims to bring financial simplicity and convenience to patients seeking dental care, according to a company release. Scratch offers “Buy Now Pay Later” options to patients, allowing them to apply for financing without affecting their credit and receive instant approvals for amounts up to $10,000.

Wellfit’s Financing Market Place, including Scratch’s financing options, is currently available at hundreds of dental practices, including over 900 offices supported by Pacific Dental Services, a leading dental support organization. Scratch and Wellfit plan to make this solution available to other dental practices across the country beginning late spring 2023.

Using Wellfit’s technology platform, patients can take control of all financial aspects of their dental care through a simple and intuitive app, accessing financial services from leading providers. The release said Scratch was a natural choice to partner with Wellfit due to its patient-friendly payment plan options, frictionless application process, and mobile-first design.

In September 2022, Scratch closed a new round of funding amounting to $35 million. The funding round was led by Norwest Venture Partners, with participation from Alumni Ventures, Companion Fund, Struck Capital, SWS Venture Capital, and TTV Capital, among others. Since it started doing business in 2016, Scratch has raised more than $108 million in financing. The company has expanded from finance services for veterinary care to include human healthcare, now providing financing services across dental, optometry, and other healthcare verticals.

“We’re excited to kick off this partnership and work together to change the way that patients pay for dental care,” said Fulton Collins, Wellfit CEO.
