Pasadena City College will be closed on Fridays this summer, from June 18 through Aug. 11, as part of cost-saving and environmental measures.
“On the district side, there will be significant savings in air-conditioning and electrical expenses, which will help during these difficult budget times,†said Dr. Richard van Pelt, PCC Vice President of Administrative Services. “Of course, we all have an interest in air quality, and this reduction will help during our peak smog season.â€
The new schedule was reached through agreements with all of PCC’s collective bargaining groups to pilot a summer, where classified and non-instructional certificated employees will work four 10-hour days per week.
Students and the community will continue to be able to access information, apply for admission, and access PCC online services seven days a week through the college’s website at www.pasadena.edu.
The campus will resume a five-day workweek on Aug. 12.
