Pasadena, Calif., – It's official! On Wednesday, January 1, 2014, the use of cigarettes, cigars, pipes, and smokeless devices became officially prohibited on the campus of Pasadena City College. A campus-wide survey showed 61 percent of students, faculty, and staff desired a smoke-free campus.
Jo Buczko, co-chair for the campus health and safety committee coordinated the tobacco-free campus campaign. "PCC students have been given notice for months that this day was coming and hopefully smokers will respect our right to have a campus that is now smoke-free", Buczko said.
The PCC Board of Trustees passed the smoke-free ordinance in August 2013 in an effort to create a healthier campus environment.
