In an effort to provide students with direct access to Historically Black Colleges and Universities, known as HBCUs, Pasadena City College will host an “On the Yard: HBCU Caravan” event.
This event, part of the larger “It’s a Different World @ PCC” initiative, will take place on Tuesday, October 24 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on PCC’s Main Campus in the Quad Area.
Students will have the opportunity to meet with HBCU representatives and gain on-the-spot admissions information. To increase their chances of immediate acceptance into one of the participating HBCUs, students are encouraged to bring along 10 copies of their transcripts.
Attendees can look forward to free food from local vendors DD’s Chick and Cat Shack as well as Fat Boys, and exciting giveaways including Visa and Southwest Airlines gift cards.
The caravan’s visit to PCC is part of the broader “CCC to HBCU” (California Community College to Historically Black Colleges & Universities) Fall Caravan. The caravan has been making stops at various community colleges across California, including De Anza College and Bakersfield College, fostering a bridge for transfer students aiming for a seamless transition to four-year HBCU institutions.
In addition to expedited college acceptance, attendees will learn more about the Transfer Guarantee from PCC to the HBCU partner institutions.
The event also promises an array of scholarships, making higher education more accessible for aspiring students.
Various HBCU representatives will be present to provide insights into their respective institutions, sharing information about the admission process, scholarship opportunities, and student life at an HBCU.
Interested individuals are encouraged to register in advance on Eventbrite to secure their spot at this promising educational caravan. This endeavor reflects a concerted effort to enhance educational accessibility and continues the tradition of fostering a supportive transfer pathway from PCC to HBCUs.
