The Pasadena City Council is scheduled to convene Monday, Sept. 30 to vote on an affordable housing initiative, an updated public safety plan, and zoning code amendments.
The public meeting, set for 6 p.m. in the Council Chamber at City Hall, 100 North Garfield Avenue, will address in part the City’s growing housing affordability crisis. Councilmembers will review a report on the current state of affordable housing, proposed strategies to increase housing stock, and potential funding mechanisms.
“The City Council values public input and encourages all interested parties to participate in the decision-making process,” the official agenda stated.
The meeting will include a public hearing on Zoning Code Amendments related to the adaptive reuse of existing nonresidential buildings. The Planning Commission has recommended changes including removing maximum density limits for existing buildings and reducing parking requirements when on-site car sharing is provided.
The meeting will begin with a closed session at 5 p.m. to discuss public employee performance evaluation and potential litigation.
The public portion will start with an informational presentation on the City’s Residential Organics Recycling Program.
The consent calendar includes: — Authorization for the City Manager to enter into a $298,830 contract with Los Angeles for Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS — Authorization for the City Manager to enter into a $1,324,440 contract with Los Angeles County for Measure H homeless services funding, with the ability to execute amendments for additional funding in future years — Resolutions updating salaries for several City job classifications.
The meeting will also provide an opportunity for public comment on matters not on the agenda.
