Pasadena Credit Unions Complete Merger to Enhance Member Services

Pasadena Service Federal Credit Union (PSFCU) and Pasadena Federal Credit Union (PFCU) have successfully merged, following approval from the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) and their respective memberships. The merger aims to provide enhanced products, services, and branch access to the combined membership.

The strategic partnership leverages the combined strengths of the two community-centric credit unions, each bringing over 85 years of service and experience.

Most recently, U.S. Representative for California’s 28th Congressional District, Judy Chu, attended Pasadena Federal Credit Union’s merger celebration event at Cafe Santorini. Chu emphasized the importance of the merger for the community, stating, “This is not a buyout, this is not an acquisition, but a partnership between two great  credit unions.”

The merger follows PFCU’s charter and field of membership expansion, allowing the combined entity to serve a wider range of city employees, business owners, artists, and community members. The credit unions’ leaders recognized the potential to serve more people by working together, with Congresswoman Chu adding, “I have to really hand it to the Board of Directors and the leadership for recognizing that you could serve more people by working together.”

As part of the merger, PSFCU will become a division of the larger PFCU, operating under the PFCU name. The combined credit union will have three locations in Pasadena and one in Bell Gardens, offering members access to an extensive network of shared branches and ATMs through the CO-OP network.

The merger is expected to provide several key benefits for members, including expanded product and service offerings, increased branch and ATM access, greater financial strength and stability, career growth opportunities for employees, and more member and community giveback.
