The city’s Accessibility and Disability Commission will evaluate accessible transportation services and event requirements during a special meeting today.

The commission meets at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at Robinson Park Recreation Center, 1080 N. Fair Oaks Ave.

FASTLink DTLA will present information about ButterFli accessible transportation services. The presentation represents a new option for residents seeking accessible transit.

Founded by industry veterans Delilah Lanoix and John Harris, ButterFli was created to address persistent challenges in the Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) sector, such as missed pickups, inefficiencies, and underperforming services.

With more than 25 years of combined experience, the founders envisioned a platform that transforms how riders and providers connect, ensuring dependable rides for those who need consistent access to care.

ButterFli positions itself as more than just a transport service – it is a mission-driven project aimed at “transforming communities one ride at a time” by bridging gaps in healthcare access and empowering providers to deliver better service

Commissioners will also discuss requirements and best practices for accessible events. The topic follows public complaints about accessibility problems at a recent concert in the city.

During public comment at an October meeting, a Minnesota resident said the Chappell Roan concert on Oct. 11 failed to provide adequate accessibility despite claims it would be ADA accessible.

The commission will review and approve nominations for the Robert Gorski Access Award. The annual award recognizes Pasadena residents with disabilities who improve accessibility and quality of life for the disability community.

Current commissioners cannot receive nominations.

The panel will also approve work plan updates and a special events calendar.

The commission canceled its November and December regular meetings in favor of this special session.

ASL interpretation will be provided. Language translation services are available with 72-hour advance notice by calling (626) 744-3829.

Meeting materials are available at www.cityofpasadena.net/commissions/accessibility-and-disability-commission and all branch libraries.
