The Pasadena Economic Development and Technology Committee will hear Tuesday about significant growth in the city’s healthcare and technology sectors, according to an update from the Pasadena Economic Development Division.

The division’s report, scheduled for the June 17 meeting, highlights several new business openings that reflect the city’s diverse economic landscape, the memorandum said.

According to the report, Puppy Fades, a dog grooming salon by Homeboy Industries, opened at 446 S. Fair Oaks Ave, providing job training for formerly incarcerated individuals. Prenuvo, a high-tech medical imaging provider, opened at 475 S. Lake Ave, offering full-body MRI scans. Bad Ash Bakes Bakery and Cafe opened at 247 E. Colorado Blvd after building a following through viral baking content.

The report details significant medical sector expansion, including Keck Medicine of USC’s upcoming outpatient facility at 590 S. Fair Oaks Ave. The 100,000-square-foot, four-story building opens fall 2025 as Keck’s largest outpatient location, offering cardiology, oncology and orthopedics with biology-guided radiation therapy, according to the report. Keck will maintain its existing site at 625 S. Fair Oaks Ave for primary care and specialty services.

In the technology sector, the report said that Pasadena-based AI company Virtualitics launched a Generative AI Toolkit for defense decision-making and logistics operations.

The division participated in regional events including the Southern California Life Sciences Conference and LA County’s Small Business Forum at the Pasadena Convention Center, the report said. The forum, hosted by Supervisor Kathryn Barger, addressed wildfire recovery and preparation for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and LA28 Games.

According to the report, the city’s Economic Development Division received a CALED Award of Merit for its Economic Development Strategic Plan.

The report said DoorDash awarded $10,000 grants to 20 small restaurants affected by the Eaton and Palisades wildfires through its Restaurant Disaster Relief Fund. The division partnered with Mayor Victor Gordo to host the Valued Pasadena Partners Breakfast at Brookside Golf Club, connecting robotics sector leaders with the local innovation ecosystem.

Upcoming events include Dine Out Pasadena Streetfest on June 22 from 1 to 7 p.m. and a Procurement 101 Training workshop on July 24, focusing on contracting preparedness for major sporting event opportunities, according to the report.
