The Pasadena Education Network (PEN) will co-host a live candidate forum for the upcoming school board elections on Monday, October 7. The event, scheduled from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., will feature candidates running for the contested Trustee Areas 2 and 6 of the Pasadena Unified School District.

PEN is hosting this forum in cooperation with the PTA Council, the African American Parent Council, the Community Advisory Committee, and the Foster Youth Council. The collaboration underscores the community’s keen interest in the school Board election and its outcomes.

The forum will take place in the School District’s Board room, room 231, at 351 South Hudson Avenue, Pasadena. Residents can attend in person, and a livestream will also be available at “PUSD Candidates Forum.

While an RSVP is not required to attend, organizers encourage registration to anticipate attendance. Click here.

In Trustee Area 2, incumbent Jennifer Hall Lee will face challenger Juan Carlos Pérez. Trustee Area 6 will see current Board member Tina Wu Fredericks competing against Lisa Kroese. The race for Trustee Area 4 is uncontested, with Scott Harden running unopposed to succeed Patrick Cahalan, who earlier announced he will not seek reelection.

The League of Women Voters, a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization, will moderate the forum.

The forum will allow voters to hear directly from the candidates about their proposed solutions to pressing issues facing the District.
