As communities across California continue to grapple with the threat of wildfires, Pasadena residents will have a chance to learn firsthand about disaster operations and emergency response from one of the city’s fire leaders.
Pasadena Fire Department Battalion Chief Christiaan Miller will lead a discussion on disaster management, focusing on lessons learned from recent fires in the region. The event, hosted by the Linda Vista Branch Library, will take place on Saturday, May 3, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. The library is located at 1281 Bryant Street in Pasadena.
Miller’s talk will cover key aspects of emergency response, including local government cooperation, mutual aid, command structure, and the establishment of the Rose Bowl command post. Attendees will gain insights into what worked well and what improvements can be made to better manage future disasters.
The discussion is open to adults of all ages, including young professionals and older community members. Interested participants can register at the library’s circulation desk or call (626) 744-7278 for more information.
