The Pasadena Fire Department announced the debut of their new Pierce engine, affectionately named “Big Red,” at the Rose Parade 2024. The announcement was made via their official Twitter account.
In a tweet filled with anticipation and humor, the department gave a sneak preview of the new fire truck. The tweet read, “SPOILER ALERT Sneak preview of our new Pierce Truck. Look for ‘big red’ making its debut run down the #roseparade2024 route tomorrow morning @PasadenaGov.“
The Rose Parade, a much-anticipated event in Pasadena, will serve as the stage for the debut run of the new fire truck. The parade is set to take place tomorrow morning, marking the start of the new year with a display of beautifully decorated floats, marching bands, and equestrian units.
In October, the Pasadena City Council authorized a purchase order contract with South Coast Fire Equipment, Inc. for the purchase of two 2023 Pierce Enforcer Triple Combination Pumpers in an amount not to exceed $2,825,309.
The two new fire apparatus will be located at Fire Station 38 and Fire Station 39 and placed into frontline service to assist with over 460 and 400 annual service calls, respectively.
