Two Pasadena-based engineering firms were among dozens honored this week by the American Council of Engineering Companies, California (ACEC California) in its 2026 Engineering Excellence Awards.
Earth Systems, with offices in Pasadena, received an Honor Award for its work on the Watts Skatepark project. Ramos Consulting Services, Inc., also based in Pasadena, earned a Merit Award for its role in the Rail to Rail Active Transportation Projects, Construction Management Support Services.
In total, ACEC California announced 20 Honor Awards, 27 Merit Awards and 15 Commendation Awards. The Golden State Award, given to the best overall project, will be announced at the Engineering Excellence Awards Banquet on Feb. 19 in Sacramento. The banquet also serves as a fundraiser for the ACEC California Scholarship Foundation, a nonprofit that provides scholarships to undergraduate and graduate students in engineering and land surveying.
“Quality infrastructure—from dependable drinking water to safe, efficient roadways and structurally sound public spaces—is essential to our state’s success. These award-winning projects showcase how our engineering and land surveying firms are passionately building a more resilient and connected California,” ACEC California Executive Director Tyler Munzing said in a press release.
The annual competition accepts entries in 12 categories, including transportation, water resources, environmental, energy and structural systems. Honor Award recipients are eligible to advance to the national Engineering Excellence Awards competition in Washington, D.C.
