Hot weather will continue in Pasadena through Friday with highs near 93 degrees before a slight weekend cooldown and a chance of showers Sunday, forecasters said.
The National Weather Service in Los Angeles/Oxnard reported Thursday at 3:15 a.m. PDT that a strong ridge of high pressure is keeping inland temperatures above normal. The ridge will weaken over the weekend, allowing monsoonal moisture to move into the region.
Thursday’s forecast calls for sunny skies and a high near 93 degrees. Winds will be calm, becoming south-southwest at 5 mph in the afternoon. Overnight lows will fall to 64 degrees under mostly clear skies.
Friday will remain hot with a high near 93 degrees. Clouds will increase Friday night, with lows around 63 degrees. Saturday will be partly sunny and slightly cooler, with highs near 91 degrees.
Forecasters said monsoonal showers and thunderstorms are possible beginning Sunday late in the evening. Temperatures will hold near 91 degrees Sunday and Monday before climbing again. Highs are expected to reach 95 degrees Tuesday and 97 degrees Wednesday. The National Weather Service said major heat risk levels are possible midweek if offshore winds develop.
Heat advisories remain in effect for inland valleys and foothills, including Pasadena. Officials urged residents to limit outdoor activity during peak heat, stay hydrated, and check on vulnerable individuals.
By Tuesday and Wednesday, skies will clear as monsoonal moisture exits the region. Sunshine and weaker onshore flow will drive temperatures higher, with forecasters warning of extreme heat potential.
