A weekend-long celebration of Arts and Crafts architecture and design will return to Pasadena this November, showcasing the city’s role as a West Coast center of the movement.
Pasadena Heritage announced its third installment of Preservation Pasadena, scheduled for Nov. 9 and10, focusing on the lasting impact of Craftsman design traditions. The event is themed, “Timeless Treasures: The Lasting Influence of the Arts & Craftsman Movement.”
The event marks a return to the organization’s roots, building upon its original Craftsman Weekend series that ran annually from 1991 to 2019 before evolving into the broader Preservation Pasadena format.
Visitors can explore the South Marengo Historic District through guided walking tours departing at 10 a.m., 10:30 a.m., and 11 a.m. on Nov. 9, featuring 12 National Register-listed bungalows.
A free two-day Craftsman Exhibition at the historic Blinn House will run Nov. 9, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Nov. 10, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., showcasing artisans and craftspeople.
Sunday’s two-hour guided bus tours, departing at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., will explore Pasadena’s bungalow courts, with interior access to a unit featuring original architectural elements.
Master woodworker Dennis Hays, who crafts custom furniture and guitars while leading Maloof Master Woodworker tours, will speak Sunday at 5:30 p.m., followed by a wine reception.
Tickets range from $20 for members and $25 for nonmembers for walking tours, to $45 for members and $50 for nonmembers for bus tours. Tickets are available on this Eventbrite link.
