The Pasadena Hindu Temple is hosting a health and wellbeing series for seniors, focusing on future healthcare planning. The event, scheduled for Wednesday, July 3 from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., will feature an interactive session led by two experienced physicians.
Doctors Alka and Pradeep Kapoor, both board-certified in internal medicine, hospice, and palliative medicine, will present on topics including advance care planning, palliative care, and hospice care. The doctors, who have over 45 years of medical experience, are also certified in Post Acute and Long-term care medicine.
Dr. Alka Kapoor continues to work part-time as Associate Medical Director for SSM Hospice in St. Louis, MO, while Dr. Pradeep Kapoor retired from full-time practice in 2022.
The one-hour session will take place at the temple located at 676 S. Rosemead Blvd. in Pasadena. It is part of the temple’s ongoing efforts to serve its community beyond religious services.
Established in 2002, the Pasadena Hindu Temple has evolved into a hub for Indian heritage and Hindu worship in Southern California. Now operating as the Hindu Temple and Heritage Foundation (HTHF), the nonprofit organization offers various community services.
The temple regularly hosts classes to preserve and promote Indian traditions and Hindu culture among young children. It also organizes celebrations for major Hindu festivals such as Holi, Diwali, Navaratri, and Janmashtami, as well as regular events according to the Hindu calendar.
In addition to cultural events, the temple provides free health services, including an annual health checkup and health seminars. The temple also offers yoga, meditation, and other discourses by renowned visiting guests.
