Two men dressed in black hooded sweatshirts fled a Pasadena home in a black SUV after encountering the homeowner during a hot prowl burglary late Wednesday morning, according to Pasadena Police Lieutenant Sam De Sylva.

De Sylva reported that at approximately 11:37 a.m. on May 13, officers responded to the 800 block of Oak Knoll Circle after a 79-year-old Pasadena resident called police. The victim told officers he had been asleep when a loud noise woke him. Upon checking his residence, he discovered several rooms had been ransacked and a glass door shattered.

The victim then found two men inside the home. De Sylva said the suspects immediately fled, entered a black SUV, and were last seen traveling northbound on Lake Avenue. No weapons were seen, and the victim was not injured.

A subsequent check of the residence revealed the loss of miscellaneous jewelry valued at about $45, according to De Sylva.

Officers canvassed the surrounding area but were unable to locate the suspects. De Sylva described them as two men of medium build, approximately 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall, wearing all-black clothing with hooded sweatshirts pulled tightly around their faces.

Detectives are expected to review surveillance footage from nearby cameras as part of the ongoing investigation, De Sylva said.
