A 20-year-old motorist remains hospitalized with moderate injuries after he slammed his vehicle into a one-story Pasadena home, a fire official said, leaving eight people inside the residence temporarily homeless.
A watch commander at the Pasadena police department said alcohol may have played a role in the crash, and that police are waiting results from the hospital.
Firefighters and paramedics were dispatched to 136 E. Washington Blvd. at 11:07 p.m. Wednesday, said Lisa Derderian of the Pasadena Fire Department.
Area residents said it was the second time a vehicle has crashed into the home in the past year. They blame motorists driving too fast on Washington Boulevard, KABC reported.
The car was reportedly trying to make a turn when it hit the curb ad smashed right into the front of the house, KABC reported. The home has been red-tagged.
Paramedics transported the motorist, the lone occupant in his vehicle, to an area hospital, Derderian said
The four occupants – four adults and four children — inside the home were displaced, due to the damage sustained during the crash, she said. The home sustained $25,000 worth of damage. No one inside the residence was reported injured.
The Red Cross was called in to provide temporary shelter for the eight people.
