Wildlife Day Will Feature Urban Wildlife Experts and Native Science

The event will include sessions on fire ecology, bear safety and Indigenous science

Pasadena Humane will host its third annual Wildlife Day on Sunday, Oct. 12, offering a free, in-person educational event for nature enthusiasts of all ages.

The four-hour program features a series of presentations ranging from 15 to 30 minutes by wildlife professionals and community leaders. Topics include urban wildlife rehabilitation, fire ecology, bear safety and Indigenous science.

Lauren Hamlett of Pasadena Humane will open the agenda at 11:15 a.m. with a 15-minute session titled “Urban Wildlife Rehab,” followed by Rochelle Guardado’s 15-minute talk on “Transitioning an Outdoor Cat to Indoor Living.” At 12:15 p.m., Kristin Ochoa of the Chaney Trail Corridor will present “Wildlife Post Fire,” a 30-minute discussion on post-wildfire ecology. The California Department of Fish and Wildlife will offer a 30-minute presentation titled “Living With Bears” at 1:15 p.m., and Samantha Morales Johnson of the San Gabriel Band of Mission will close the program with “Native Science 101” at 2:15 p.m.

The event runs from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Pasadena Humane campus, located at 361 South Raymond Avenue.

No registration fee is required. The event is in person and spans four hours. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early to secure seating for individual sessions.
