The Pasadena Public Library is enhancing its digital resources by adding free, unlimited access to thousands of magazines and newspapers through PressReader’s recent acquisition of Condé Nast’s U.S. publications. PressReader, a newspaper and magazine database where users can search for and read an array of publications, brings premium digital content to library cardholders through multiple platforms.
The expanded collection now includes major titles such as The New Yorker, Vogue, Condé Nast Traveler, GQ, Glamour, Architectural Digest, Vanity Fair, Pitchfork, Wired, Bon Appétit, Cook’s Illustrated, US Weekly and Ars Technica. Tim McDonald, Director of Libraries and Information Services, announced the expansion as part of the department’s efforts to increase digital accessibility.
The library offers varied checkout access through multiple digital platforms. Flipster, a dedicated digital magazine platform, provides unlimited access to magazines, including the monthly magazine and annual Consumer Reports Buying Guide. Libby allows users to check out up to 10 items monthly, including eBooks, e-audiobooks, and magazines. Hoopla offers a four-item monthly limit for various media including magazines, books, music, and movies.
Library cardholders can access all digital resources by visiting the Digital Magazines, Comics, & Newspapers page on the Pasadena Public Library website. All platforms are accessible through the library website and are mobile compatible through their respective apps.
