The current catalog and patron accounts moved into view-only mode Tuesday and stayed that way through Sept. 9 while the library transfers account information and prepares the upgraded catalog. Placing holds and updating accounts stopped at 7 p.m. Monday.
Unavailable through Sept. 9: renewals, new holds, interlibrary loan requests, automated email and text notices, new library accounts and online self-registration, and account updates such as a change of address, phone or email or replacement of a card.
Still available: searching the catalog, checking out physical items including materials already on hold and ready, borrowing eBooks and eAudiobooks through in-app checkouts, and using online databases and digital media. eMaterials go through the OverDrive/Libby, CloudLibrary and hoopla apps rather than the catalog.
Items due Sept. 1 through Sept. 9 are now due Sept. 18, and cards expiring between Aug. 18 and Sept. 9 are extended to Sept. 30. Items returned during the freeze will keep showing as checked out until staff are able to resume checking in returns beginning Sept. 10, the library said.
In Vega Discover, patrons can opt in to save a reading history and keep unlimited lists, both confined to their own login and not available to staff, the library said.
