A Pasadena man was arrested early Monday after allegedly vandalizing property with a metal pipe and attempting to evade officers, according to Pasadena Police Lieutenant Monica Cuellar.
Officers responded at 12:55 a.m. to a report of vandalism in the 100 block of East Holly Street, where the suspect, identified as Christopher Russell, was still at the scene, Cuellar said.
Police attempted to detain him but Russell broke free from officers and fled while still carrying the pipe, Cuellar stated.
Officers pursued Russell, repeatedly ordering him to drop the pipe, but he refused, according to Cuellar.
Officers then deployed a Taser, which was effective in subduing Russell. He was taken into custody without further incident,. Cuellar said.
The victim in the case is a 40-year-old Pasadena woman, Cuellar reported. Details about the specific property damaged were not immediately available according to Cuellar.
No injuries were reported to officers or the suspect, and the metal pipe was recovered at the scene, Cuellar said. Russell was booked for vandalism . Additional charges may be considered, Cuellar added.
