A 32-year-old Pasadena man sustained a concussion and facial injuries after being assaulted by an older man accompanied by a German Shepherd near Colorado Boulevard and Wilson Avenue on Tuesday morning, according to Pasadena Police Watch Commander Lieutenant Domino Scott-Jackson.
The incident occurred around 8:00 a.m., with police receiving the report at approximately 8:30 a.m. on Sept. 30, Scott-Jackson said.
The victim, who was seated on a bus bench, offered a sandwich to the suspect, who then allowed his dog to bite the victim’s right arm before physically attacking him, said Scott-Jackson.
The suspect grabbed the victim by the vest and punched him three times in the head and face, Scott-Jackson said.
The victim lost consciousness temporarily, but regained awareness and transported himself to the hospital, said Scott-Jackson.
The victim required stitches for a cut on his lower lip and was diagnosed with a concussion, Scott-Jackson confirmed. No weapons were involved beyond the suspect’s use of bodily force and the dog.
The suspect is described as an African American man in his 60s, approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing 170 pounds, with a short afro hairstyle and was accompanied by a German Shepherd.
Officers canvassed the area but were unable to locate the suspect or any witnesses, Scott-Jackson said. Surveillance footage from the vicinity did not capture the assault itself.
