A 19-year-old Pasadena man reportedly fought off a knife-wielding home invasion robber on Wednesday night, managing to disarm the suspect and stab him with his own pocket knife, according to the police.
Pasadena Police Lieutenant Matt Campeau said the May 15 residential burglary occurred at approximately 8:50 p.m. in the 1200 block of Solita Road. The victim, who was home at the time, reportedly saw two unknown men ransacking his residence.
One of the suspects, described as either white or Hispanic and in his twenties to thirties, reportedly held the victim at knifepoint, while his accomplice continued to burglarize the home.
“Suspect number one threatened to stab the victim as he lunged towards him holding the knife, but was unsuccessful,” Lt. Campeau said.
The victim then managed to fight back, disarming the suspect and stabbing him in the left shoulder, Campeau said.
Both suspects subsequently fled the scene, according to police. The victim locked himself in the bathroom and called 911.
Authorities reported that the victim suffered minor injuries during the altercation, including lacerations on his stomach and arms, but did not require hospitalization.
No property was reported stolen.
The first suspect was last seen wearing a dark-colored baseball cap, surgical mask, and blue jeans. His accomplice, described as a Hispanic male also in his twenties to thirties, was reportedly wearing blue jeans and a surgical mask.
An investigation into the home invasion and attempted robbery is ongoing.
