The Pasadena New Thought Center (PNTC), formerly known as The Church of the Truth, is preparing to commemorate a century of spiritual service to the community.

The nonprofit organization will host its 100th Annual Meeting and centennial celebration on October 13, at which leadership will reflect on its history and look toward its future.

This event will explore PNTC’s longstanding commitment to New Thought spirituality, community service, and fellowship.

“Throughout our 100 years, we have supported New Thought seekers in the greater Los Angeles area, proudly contributing to their spiritual growth and wellbeing,” said PNTC minister Rev. Emerita Donna Bryns.

The celebration, themed “Celebrating 100 Years of Enlightenment,” will take place at PNTC’s officially recognized historic landmark building at 690 E. Orange Grove Boulevard, in West Pasadena.

The program begins at 11 a.m. and includes an hour-long service featuring a message from Rev. Byrns, musical performances by Tom Armbruster and the PNTC choir, and appearances by special guests, as yet unnamed.

PNTC was established in Pasadena in 1924 by founder Albert C. Grier. It is one of the first New Thought churches in the United States and part of the international metaphysical movement of the late 1800s. The organization prides itself on a rich history of healing, community outreach, and inclusion.

Jill Sutherland, PNTC Board president, said “we are a ‘New Thought/Ancient Wisdom’ congregation that believes in the power of prayer and affirmation to create a reality that is happy, healthy and abundant.”

The centennial event also serves as an opportunity for reflection and future planning.

PNTC treasurer Art Blair said the Center’s members will “celebrate our rich history and build upon what we’ve done to inspire our next 100 years.”

In a statement, the Centr attributes its longevity to a strong foundation of Christian values and Ancient Wisdom teachings, combined with a commitment to progress and New Thought beliefs.

The organization said it holds weekly Sunday services at 11 a.m. and invites community members to join in their ongoing spiritual journey.
