In a private Pasadena garden on October 5, guests paying up to $1,500 will sip beer and sample Chef Claud Beltran’s cuisine to support a cause that highlights the city’s educational divide: ensuring underserved students can access and succeed in college.
College Access Plan (CAP), which has provided free college readiness programs since 2006, will host its seventh annual CAPtoberfest fundraiser from 5 to 8 p.m., with proceeds supporting no-cost advisement and courses for local students and families who might otherwise navigate the college process alone.
The Oktoberfest-themed event — subtitled “Back to the Brew” — reflects the nonprofit’s grassroots approach to addressing a persistent challenge in Pasadena’s school districts. Through partnerships with local schools and agencies, CAP serves middle and high school students, their families, and graduates already attending college.
General admission tickets cost $100, with “champion-level” packages ranging from $300 to $1,500, available at www.givebutter.com/CAPtoberfest2. The evening promises “tasty bites by Chef Claud Beltran, general merriment, music, and a few CAPtastic surprises,” according to the organization. Festive Oktoberfest attire is encouraged but not required.
