A Rim Road property owner faces a code enforcement hearing Thursday over alleged building code violations that could carry misdemeanor charges.
The Code Enforcement Commission will convene at 4 p.m. Jan. 22 at the Permit Center to review Case No. CTP2025-02183 involving 693 Rim Road in Council District 4.
The property owner stands accused of violating multiple city and state codes. Chief among them: failing to provide proper engineering reports for building work.
Panel No. 3, chaired by William Francis, will hear the case. Members Renee Morgan-Hampton and Shoghig Yepremian round out the commission.
The violations stem from California Building Code requirements for engineering documentation. The code mandates that certain reports be prepared by qualified engineers or specialists acceptable to the building official.
Additional charges cite general provisions of Pasadena Municipal Code Section 1.24.010(A). That section makes code violations punishable as misdemeanors unless designated as infractions or handled through civil administrative action.
The property also allegedly violates Section 14.050.040(35), which declares it unlawful to maintain property with conditions that break city, state or federal regulations.
Code Compliance Manager Jon Pollard will staff the hearing alongside Cynthia Bao.
The special public meeting takes place in the Permit Center lobby at 175 N. Garfield Avenue. Public comment on matters not on the agenda will be limited to three minutes per speaker.
Language translation services are available by calling (626) 744-4031 at least 24 hours in advance. Listening assistive devices can be requested through the City Clerk’s Office at (626) 744-4633.
The hearing agenda is viewable at City Hall and the Hale Building. Supporting documents are available for public inspection during normal business hours.
