A 25-year-old Azusa man was arrested early Thursday after Pasadena police officers discovered a loaded handgun during a traffic stop, according to Pasadena Police Lieutenant Matt Campeau.

Officers conducted the stop at 12:46 a.m. Feb. 6 near Lake Avenue and Mountain Street after seeing a vehicle code violation, Campeau said. The driver, identified as Edward Robinson, was determined to be unlicensed and detained pending further investigation.

During an inventory search of the vehicle, officers located a loaded Springfield Hellcat 9mm handgun inside the glove compartment, Campeau said. The firearm reportedly contained a loaded magazine but no round in the chamber.

Robinson was arrested on weapons violations and transported to the Pasadena jail for processing, according to Campeau. No injuries, resistance, drugs, or other contraband were reported in connection with the incident.
