Detectives with the Pasadena Police Department’s Street Crime Unit arrested a 60-year-old Pasadena man Tuesday after finding more than four pounds of methamphetamine and over $3,000 in cash during a traffic stop, according to Pasadena Police Lieutenant Monica Cuellar.
Cuellar said detectives recognized the suspect, identified as Richard Allen, while conducting direct enforcement in the area of Rosemead Boulevard and Del Mar Boulevard around 12:05 p.m. Tuesday. Officers knew Allen from prior narcotics-related contacts, Cuellar said.
A records check revealed Allen did not have a valid M1 motorcycle license and was on probation, Cuellar reported.
Detectives initiated a traffic stop, and Allen consented to a search of his person. During that search, officers discovered approximately 4.55 pounds of methamphetamine and more than $3,000 in U.S. currency, Cuellar said.
Allen was arrested on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine for sales and booked into the Pasadena City Jail, according to Cuellar. No weapons were found, and Allen did not resist arrest, Cuellar added.
Cuellar confirmed Allen was on probation at the time of the arrest but did not provide details about the underlying case.
