Two teenage boys were arrested after leading Pasadena police on a pursuit in a stolen Kia Soul on Monday evening, according to Pasadena Police Lt. Anthony Russo.
Russo said that officers received a Flock safety–camera alert at 6:33 p.m. for a blue Kia that had been reported stolen from a 50–year–old Pasadena man. The vehicle was located near Parke Street and Garfield Avenue, he said.
As officers followed the Kia north on Garfield Avenue near Orange Grove Boulevard, the driver made a U–turn and began heading south, Russo said. Officers activated their lights and siren, but the vehicle did not stop, prompting a pursuit through nearby streets.
The chase ended when the Kia “slowly collided with a parked car” at Painter Street and Summit Avenue, according to Russo.
Both suspects — described as 14 and 16-year–old boys from Pasadena — ran from the vehicle but were caught after a brief foot chase.
Russo said the Kia was recovered and no injuries were reported. He added that no weapons were used or found.
The driver was taken into custody on suspicion of vehicle theft, felony evading, and resisting arrest, Russo said.
The passenger was arrested on suspicion of vehicle theft and resisting arrest. Russo noted that the report did not specify which teen was driving.
The lieutenant said the report also did not include how long the pursuit lasted or the juveniles’ final disposition, though he said they would typically be released to their parents unless other circumstances applied.
