Pasadena Police Chief to Address Parents’ Day Ceremony at City Hall

Twenty-five parents will be recognized Saturday morning in the rotunda of Pasadena City Hall, with the city’s police chief set to deliver the keynote address.

The ceremony is the Southern California observance of National Parents’ Day, organized by the Universal Peace Federation. According to the organization’s announcement, its Parents of the Year Selection Committee named the 2026 honorees, who will receive certificates the group describes as state-level.

The event begins at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, July 25, in the rotunda at Pasadena City Hall, 100 North Garfield Avenue, Pasadena, CA 91101. There is no cost to attend. The federation says the ceremony will be followed by a complimentary lunch at the UPF Peace Center, 950 Holly Vista Drive, in Pasadena.

The federation’s announcement says the event is presented in cooperation with ACLC, WFWP and EZwayTV, and that it is directed locally by Nasser and Ulli Zomorod of the Universal Peace Federation of Southern California.

According to the announcement, the 25 honorees were nominated for the recognition and will be presented their certificates by the Universal Peace Federation during the ceremony. The organization says the gathering is intended to honor parents publicly, and that it will be followed by what it calls a celebration lunch at the Peace Center after the City Hall program concludes.

National Parents’ Day dates to 1994, when Congress unanimously passed a resolution, signed into law by President Bill Clinton, designating the fourth Sunday of July as an annual day to recognize parents. This year that Sunday falls on July 26.

The federation’s announcement describes National Parents’ Day as an occasion observed across the country in homes, communities, schools, faith organizations and cities. It says the day is marked through nominations, Parents of the Year recognitions, local proclamations, family gatherings and community tributes, and that community leaders in nearly every state organize events to honor parents on the date each year.

The Saturday program places that national observance inside a Pasadena civic setting. The rotunda ceremony is open to the public at no charge, and the organizers have identified a single local contact for those who wish to take part.
