Pasadena Police Recover Stolen Rifles, Arrest Two in Burglary Investigation

Two men were arrested in a Pasadena police investigation that recovered rifles stolen in a July burglary along with additional illegally possessed firearms, high-capacity magazines and ammunition, according to a Pasadena Police Department news release.

Officers from the department’s patrol division and the Street Crimes Unit conducted a traffic stop at approximately 8 p.m. on July 22 that led to the seizure of two AR-15 rifles. The rifles had been taken during a burglary in Pasadena on July 19.

Several additional rifles taken during that burglary were still outstanding, police said.

On Friday, July 24, the Street Crimes Unit conducted further follow-up operations involving the service of search warrants in Los Angeles County. As a result of that second operation, officers recovered the outstanding rifles from the burglary as well as additional illegally possessed firearms.

In total, officers recovered two handguns, four AR-15 style rifles, a .308 semi-automatic sniper rifle and a 30-06 bolt-action sniper rifle.

Dozens of high-capacity magazines and several hundred rounds of ammunition were also recovered.

Arrested in connection were Anthony Villalobos, 45, of Pasadena, and Jerry Schoeder, 62, of East Los Angeles. A third individual was detained pending further investigation.

Formal charges are pending review by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
