Pasadena police officers have responded to more than 230 domestic violence calls so far this year, the department revealed as it said it “stands in solidarity with Domestic Violence Awareness Month.”

The figure underscores the prevalence of abuse across all demographics in the community, according to the police department.

The department reaffirmed its “unwavering commitment to protecting survivors, preventing abuse, and promoting healing within our community.”

The department is highlighting Peace Over Violence, a local nonprofit that provides confidential help to survivors.

The organization operates a 24-hour hotline at (626) 793-3385 and maintains an office at 892 N. Fair Oaks Avenue, Suite D.

Peace Over Violence offers crisis intervention, advocacy and support services to those affected by domestic and sexual violence.

The nonprofit describes itself as a multicultural, community-based organization working to build healthy relationships and violence-free families.

Services are available in English, Spanish and American Sign Language through video phone options.

“We know that violence is preventable,” the organization says in its mission statement.

The group provides one-on-one counseling and support for survivors. It also offers prevention education programs for teens focused on healthy relationships and conflict resolution.

Emergency situations should be reported to 911. Non-emergency calls can be directed to the Pasadena Police Department’s regular line.

Peace Over Violence operates five departments covering emergency response, intervention, prevention, education and advocacy.

The organization functions as a volunteer-centered 501(c)(3) nonprofit serving the community.
