For the first time in 13 months, Pasadena residents are able to walk into the Central Library and sit and read a book. For a few hours each day, at least for now.
Thursday’s Central Branch reopening was part of a phased in-person reopening for Pasadena’s libraries. The Hastings and La Pintoresca branch libraries will reopen on Tuesday, April 20, also with limited hours.
When Pasadena entered the orange tier of the State’s Blueprint for a Safer Economy on April 5, libraries were cleared to reopen at a reduced capacity, while still requiring face coverings and six feet physical distance between patrons.
In preparation for reopening its doors to the public, Pasadena Public Library is working to ensure all protocols for public health and safety, cleanliness and physical distancing are in place, according to an official announcement.
Central Library, Hastings and La Pintoresca branch libraries will offer limited one-hour Express Service, in addition to their curbside and phone/chat services.
Patrons will be able to browse the collections, check out materials, reserve and use public computers, and access Wi-Fi as well as printing and copying services.
Patrons will still be able to attend virtual programs; contact library staff via phone at (626) 744- 4066, option 7, email at:

or live chat at:
