The Pasadena Public Library is launching a new digital service for adults, .
The school is an online high school diploma and career certificate program accessible through the Pasadena Public Library website.
Prospective students enroll in a two-week prerequisite course; once completed, students follow a self-paced online course of study for 18 months.
Career Online High School is available to California residents ages 19 and up.
This free program pairs each student with an academic coach to support student progress toward earning an accredited high school diploma and certification for workforce readiness in several career paths.
Career certificates allow students to select a career path and complete workforce-ready training in that field as they complete the diploma program.
The certificates include:
- General Career Preparation
- Childcare and Education (“CDA”) – preparation to obtain the industry credential
- Certified Protection Officer (Security Officer)
- Office Management
- Commercial Driving (“CDL”) – preparation to obtain industry credential
- Security Professional
- Retail Customer Service
- Food and Hospitality (“CPFM”) – preparation to obtain industry credential
- Hospitality and Leisure
- Home Care Professional
- Introduction to Manufacturing
Pasadena Public Library offers additional support to diploma seekers with Chromebooks and hotspots lending to all library card holders and computers, printers, and study space inside all ten library branches.
