The City of Pasadena will host an important community meeting Thursday to gather public input on the future development of a 2.38-acre site located at the southeast corner of Lake Avenue and Villa Street, formerly owned by Kaiser Permanente.
The meeting, scheduled for March 27 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Lake Avenue Church, located at 393 N. Lake Avenue, aims to help shape the future of the site which the city acquired in 2023.
Officials are considering various development options including affordable housing, medical and mental health outpatient services, retail space and other potential uses residents may raise at the meeting.
“The City of Pasadena is dedicated to creating a vibrant and sustainable future for this neighborhood, and we need your voice to make it happen,” city officials stated in the announcement.
In July 2024, the city released a Notice of Availability to affordable housing developers in accordance with California’s Surplus Lands Act and is currently evaluating parties that expressed interest in the site.
The current vision for the property includes providing affordable housing and healthcare services within a community-focused mixed-use Transit Oriented Development. As the City explores development opportunities, it is committed to meeting with and listening to resident’s voices during the planning process.
According to officials, the North Lake Specific Plan outlines the standards that promote development distinctive to the character of North Lake Avenue. Among the uses permitted on the site are mixed-use developments, multi-family housing and community-serving retail uses.
The meeting will take place in the church’s Rose Room on the second floor, with parking available in the church lot. Attendees will be guided by signage and balloons.
