Pasadena’s Rent Stabilization Department will hold an Annual Rental Registration Workshop at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8, offering property owners an overview of the City’s 2026 registration cycle and a demonstration of its updated Rental Registry portal.
The annual cycle runs through Oct. 31, and covered landlords are required to register residential units and pay a $236.54-per-unit housing fee. The session will be held at 199 S. Los Robles Ave. and is also available by Zoom, with Spanish interpretation offered.
City staff will walk the room through the rebuilt Rental Registry portal and its five-step registration process, but the City characterizes the session as a group educational demonstration rather than a walk-in help desk, and says staff will not complete individual registrations during the program.
The workshop is set for the first-floor conference room of the Los Robles Building and is scheduled to run until 7:30 p.m. The Zoom option and Spanish interpretation are available to both in-person and virtual attendees.
Landlords with residential units covered by Charter Article XVIII must register annually, the City says.
The requirement reaches further than some owners expect. City guidance says rented single-family homes and condominiums must be registered, and that some owner-occupied, shared-housing and temporary-rental situations require registration along with an exemption claim.
Registration itself asks for unit, owner/manager and tenancy information. The registry supports the Rent Stabilization Department’s administration of the local ordinance.
The 2026 cycle opened Sept. 1 and closes Oct. 31, with a seven-day grace period running through Nov. 7 before late fees apply.
Today’s workshop is at the Rent Stabilization Department office, 199 S. Los Robles Ave., first-floor conference room, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. Virtual attendance is available at Bit.ly/MonthlyRSDWorkshops. Owners who need one-on-one help can attend walk-in sessions Sept. 15 and Sept. 30 at Robinson Park Recreation Center, 1081 N. Fair Oaks Ave.; Sept. 21 at Victory Park Recreation Center, 2575 Paloma St.; and Oct. 8, 13, 22 and 29 at the department office.
