Pasadena Southwest Little League (PSWLL) has launched registration for its Spring 2025 season. Little League has introduced new geographic eligibility rules that expand access for younger players allowing younger players to play outside of the traditional boundaries. The league, dedicated to providing a positive sports experience for children of all abilities, emphasizes teamwork, sportsmanship, and fair play while aiming to reflect the community’s diversity.

“It’s a great way for kids to get out there and play baseball and get out there with their friends and family to enjoy America’s pastime,” said Kevin Kohorst, President, highlighting the league’s role in Southwest Pasadena.

Little League has implemented significant changes to its geographic eligibility requirements for 2025. Little League age six and seven-year-olds don’t have to live or go to school in our region, but they can now play without restrictions in our region or District,” Kohorst explained. Complete eligibility information is available at pswll.com.

Registration deadlines vary by division, with most divisions closing enrollment on January 11, 2025. T-Ball registration remains open until Opening Day on March 1, 2025. Player assessments for AA to Majors divisions are scheduled for January 11 at Allendale Park, with times varying by league age and a makeup session planned for January 14. Specific assessment times will be posted in the “News” section of the Pasadena Southwest Little League website.

Building on last year’s successful return to pre-pandemic levels with over 400 players, the league aims to maintain its robust enrollment. “We’re really trying to grow our T-ball and farm divisions, which will help us carry strong registration numbers for the next number of years,” Kohorst said.

The league offers multiple divisions, including T-Ball for beginners, Farm Division for fundamental skill development, AA through Majors divisions for competitive play, and Juniors/Intermediates for advanced players. Pasadena Southwest Little League provides development opportunities through pre-season training programs.

“Once a player is registered, we’ll open up clinics to those players and it allows those new to the game or returning to either freshen up their skills or develop their skills preseason,” Kohorst noted.

“We have Allendale as our primary field, but then we also have a number of other fields that allow us to have plenty of fields for games and practices for all the kids,” Kohorst said.

The league has enhanced its facilities through community grants from the Pasadena Tournament of Roses and Smart & Final, including improvements to the bullpen catcher’s area. Games at Allendale are live-streamed on YouTube for extended families to enjoy.

“A number of years ago we started live streaming all of our games at Allendale, and I think that’s been a huge success, not only for the local families, but it’s allowed our players’ extended families to enjoy the little league games watching the live stream on YouTube,” Kohorst noted.

Recent achievements include the 11s All-Star team winning the District 17 Championship on July 1, 2024, followed by a 14-3 victory advancing them to Montrose Park on July 14. Teams for the 2025 season will be formed in January, with practices beginning in late January or early February. Opening Day ceremonies are scheduled for March 1, 2025, at Allendale Park, while T-Ball games will commence March 8 at Grant Park.

The league welcomes community involvement through volunteer opportunities in coaching, umpiring, and administrative roles.
