GuRu Wireless, Inc., a Pasadena-based technology firm founded in 2017 by a team of scientists and engineers from Caltech, will demonstrate its groundbreaking drone power system at an upcoming military conference in Florida.

The company’s technology enables small unmanned aerial systems (sUAS) to remain in flight indefinitely without needing to land for battery changes or requiring physical power connections.

“This first-of-a-kind persistent intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) capability is enabled by GuRu Wireless’ scalable, fully synchronous wireless power transfer technology platform operating at 24GHz,” according to the company’s announcement.

The demonstration will take place at SOF Week 2025, an annual conference for the international Special Operations Forces community jointly sponsored by United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) and the Global SOF Foundation.

The event runs May 5-8 in Tampa, Florida, with GuRu Wireless exhibiting on May 6-7.

Attendees visiting the GuRu Wireless booth will see a demonstration of “the company’s ability to keep an un-tethered, small, unmanned aerial system (sUAS) in the air indefinitely, eliminating the need for a drone to land for battery change-outs, charging, or a physical connection (tether) to a power source.”

Founded in 2017, GuRu Wireless develops adaptive, long-range wireless energy transfer systems that eliminate the need for batteries or wires in various applications. The company has successfully completed several proof-of-concept projects with leading customers in industrial, commercial and defense applications.

Starting in 2024, the company shifted focus to developing complete end-to-end purpose-built solutions for persistent flight and ISR capabilities via small unmanned aerial systems. Its proprietary Long-range Wireless Power Beaming (LRWPB) technology platform serves as the foundation for these developments, which the company describes as “a game-changer for critical missions in defense, national security, and public safety.”

GuRu Wireless is headquartered at 234 E. Colorado Blvd. in Pasadena and is backed by strategic investors including some of the world’s most progressive and forward-looking companies focused on deep technology.

The company has also made a video demonstration of its persistent ISR technology available online at https://youtu.be/RKSi41ERZQk.
