A warming trend will push Pasadena temperatures into the upper 80s by Mother’s Day, forecasters said Wednesday. The National Weather Service reported the heat will peak Sunday and Monday, running 15 to 20 degrees above normal.
The shift follows a low pressure system that moved south into Mexico earlier this week. High pressure is now building over California, bringing clear skies and rising temperatures.
Wednesday’s high will near 76 degrees, with morning clouds giving way to sun. Winds will remain light, generally calm in the morning and shifting southwest at about 5 mph in the afternoon.
Temperatures will climb steadily through the week. Thursday and Friday will reach the mid-80s, with overnight lows in the mid-50s. By Saturday, highs will reach 86 degrees, rising to 88 on Sunday and 92 on Monday.
Nighttime lows will hover near 60 degrees. Outdoor activities will be pleasant but hot, especially on Mother’s Day.
The National Weather Service noted that the heat could stress vulnerable residents and outdoor workers. No advisories have been issued yet, but heat alerts could be posted later this week.
The extended forecast shows highs near 89 degrees Tuesday before a slight moderation midweek. Nights will remain mild, with lows in the low 60s.
Forecasters said the warming pattern marks a significant shift from spring’s cooler showers to summer-like heat. Residents are advised to stay hydrated and take precautions during the hottest days.
