A sharp cool-down is expected in Pasadena beginning Thursday as a deep marine layer spreads across Southern California, forecasters said Tuesday. Temperatures will drop nearly 10 degrees from earlier in the week, with highs falling into the upper 70s by Thursday and Friday, according to the National Weather Service in Los Angeles/Oxnard.

Today’s high will reach near 87 degrees under sunny skies, with calm winds shifting to a light south-southwest breeze at 5 mph in the afternoon. Tonight will be partly cloudy with a low around 59 degrees.

Wednesday will bring partly sunny skies before clearing, with a high near 83 degrees. Overnight lows will dip to 57 degrees as clouds increase. By Thursday, patchy morning fog will linger before skies turn mostly sunny, but highs will only reach 79 degrees. Winds will remain light.

Forecasters said the cooling trend will continue into Friday, with highs near 78 degrees under mostly sunny skies. Saturday will be similar, with highs near 77 degrees. Overnight lows through the weekend will stay in the mid-50s.

No rain is forecast for Pasadena during this period, though fog and low clouds will be common in the mornings. Winds will stay light.

The weekend outlook calls for sunny afternoons after morning fog, with highs in the upper 70s. By Monday, temperatures will begin to rebound, reaching the low 80s. Forecasters said a stronger warming trend is likely next week as a high-pressure system builds.

Residents should expect cooler mornings and reduced visibility from fog during commutes later this week. No advisories are currently in effect for Pasadena.
