The event, at 300 E. Green St., is being produced in partnership with the Pasadena Center Operating Company (PCOC) and the Los Angeles County Fifth District, with funding from LA Metro and Verizon, according to a City of Pasadena press release. The release describes the event as a transit-first experience for fans of all ages, with the street and plaza transformed into a community event space.
Plaza programming will include food trucks, family-friendly activities, soccer-themed games, live music, and a beer garden with drinks for purchase, the City said. A customization station will be available for attendees who bring their favorite soccer gear or jersey to add iron-on artwork. Angel City Football Club will be on site with giveaways, raffles, and soccer-themed activations.
“We are thrilled to welcome the excitement and energy of the world’s biggest soccer tournament to our city,” Michael Ross, CEO of PCOC, said in the press release. “We’re looking forward to bringing the community and visitors together for a wonderful evening to cheer on Team USA and celebrate the spirit of the game.”
Los Angeles County Fifth District Supervisor Kathryn Barger said in the same release that the host-city role offers a regional showcase.
“Pasadena’s role as a host city is a big point of pride for Los Angeles County and a chance to showcase our community on a global stage,” Barger said. “This watch party will bring neighbors and visitors together through the unifying power of soccer. I encourage fans to take advantage of public transportation and enjoy all that Pasadena, and its surrounding communities have to offer.”
The City is urging attendees to take the Metro A Line to either Memorial Park Station or Del Mar, each described as about a 10-minute walk from the plaza. At the stations, Metro will provide music, soccer match highlights and wayfinding support, according to the release. Attendees may receive a limited-edition FIFA World Cup–branded Metro card while supplies last.
The event and surrounding sidewalks and crossings are accessible for attendees using wheelchairs and other mobility devices, the City said, and all Metro rail stations, trains and buses are ADA-accessible. Pets and emotional support animals are not permitted; only service animals specifically trained to assist a person with a disability are welcome.
