The beautifully decorated dragons are surrounded by beautiful musical notes and instruments, illustrating the 2024 Tournament of Roses theme and celebrating the 75-year history of Alhambra in the Rose Parade.
CORE Kidney

CORE Kidney is a patient advocacy and support group formed by grateful kidney patients, their caregivers and living kidney donors. Dr Anjay Rastogi MD PhD, Professor and Clinical Chief of Nephrology at UCLA Health, was the inspiration behind the formation of this non-profit foundation. The purpose of the foundation is to support and further the work UCLA Health CORE Program and other similar minded institutions and organizations are doing in advancing kidney care. The CORE principles of CORE Kidney are Clinical Excellence, Outreach, Research and Education. CORE Kidney aims to provide help and support to kidney patients and their families each step of the way along this long, arduous and often frightening kidney journey and let them know that they are not alone. Proudly riding on the float is a group of musicians, living kidney donors, recipients and individuals in need of a kidney. These riders represent the generosity of donors and promote kidney health. The primary message of the float titled “Gift of Life: A Tune That Never Fades!” honors living kidney donors for their life-saving gifts, emphasizing the importance of organ donation. CORE Kidney’s mission is to bring light to how widespread kidney disease is, with the goal of inspiring more people and society to take preventive measures. This float is honoring our living kidney donors by increasing kidney health awareness. Butterflies leading the float are a symbol of goodwill, transformation and rebirth. Purple butterflies symbolize lupus nephritis, while the tree represents knowledge and life — symbolizing the continued need for education and kidney health awareness.

Visit Newport Beach
Builder – Phoenix Decorating Company
After an 18-year hiatus, Newport Beach makes a splash once again on the global stage, showcasing its rich history and vibrant community spirit through its float paying homage to Newport Beach’s cherished Christmas Boat Parade, a beloved local tradition. The historic ties between Newport Beach and the Rose Parade run deep as for many years, the Rose Court would visit Newport Beach’s Balboa Bay Club to celebrate the dawn of a new parade season. The Rose Parade has also served as a source of inspiration for Newport Beach’s Christmas Boat Parade, as demonstrated by the addition of a symbolic parade leader known as the Grand Marshal in the parade’s recent years. Visit Newport Beach’s float, aptly titled “Jingle on the Waves,” draws attention as the longest float in the 2024 parade lineup at an astounding length of 165 feet. What truly sets this float apart is its concept—a heartfelt tribute to the beloved Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade, essentially creating a parade within a parade. Five individual units showcase the annual Visit Newport Beach California Boat parade. The design showcases iconic Newport Beach landmarks like the Fun Zone Ferris Wheel and the Balboa Pavilion, all crowned by a magnificent 20-foot Christmas tree. The forefront of the float features a pink flamingo atop a decorated boat featuring a festive polar bear, lights, toys and gifts with oversized palm trees and Christmas trees. The second attachment of the float brings to life the decorated Marina Park Sailing & Boating Center of the Balboa Pavilion. The third float unit is a special nod to Rose Parade history featuring a Rose Queen yacht with five former Rose Queens who call Newport Beach home. The fourth unit brightens the parade route with an illuminated Ferris wheel and celebratory rockets, as the fifth and final unit proudly carries a snowman with a top hat wishing everyone a happy new year!
