Pasadena Transit and Pasadena Dial-A-Ride will provide free transportation Tuesday, Nov. 3, as Los Angeles County residents head to vote centers and ballot drop boxes for the general election, according to the City of Pasadena.
The fare waiver was announced by Transportation Director Joaquin Siques in the city’s Oct. 22 weekly newsletter. City officials said most voting locations and ballot drop boxes in Pasadena are within a quarter-mile of a Pasadena Transit bus stop.
The free rides will be available on both Pasadena Transit buses and Pasadena Dial-A-Ride, which serves eligible residents of Pasadena, Altadena, San Marino and several neighboring unincorporated Los Angeles County communities.
Pasadena Transit normally charges 75 cents for a full-fare bus ride, with reduced fares for students, seniors and passengers with disabilities. Those fares will be waived on Election Day.
Dial-A-Ride provides shared, curb-to-curb transportation for residents age 60 and older and qualifying younger residents with disabilities. The service requires membership, and existing eligibility and reservation requirements remain in effect.
Dial-A-Ride passengers are encouraged to reserve trips at least 24 hours in advance. Same-day reservations may not be accepted, and transportation depends on vehicle availability.
Reservations can be made by calling (626) 791-7200 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Regular weekday Dial-A-Ride operating hours are 7 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Metro also announced free rides on its buses and trains Tuesday. Metro Micro, which serves an area encompassing Altadena, Pasadena and Sierra Madre, will also provide free trips. Metro said passengers can reserve Metro Micro rides through its mobile application without a promotional code.
Metro Bike Share will offer a free 30-minute ride using promotional code 110326. A credit or debit card is required, and additional charges apply to rides longer than 30 minutes, according to Metro.
Pasadena officials also identified the Los Angeles Department of Transportation, BurbankBus, Montebello Bus Lines, Long Beach Transit and Santa Monica’s Big Blue Bus among agencies offering free Election Day transportation.
Los Angeles County vote centers will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday. County residents may cast ballots at any participating vote center in the county, regardless of their assigned precinct.
Completed vote-by-mail ballots may also be returned at participating vote centers or official ballot drop boxes.
The city’s Transportation Department recommends using the Transit mobile application to check Pasadena Transit bus arrival times and plan trips to voting locations.
For route and schedule information, passengers may call Pasadena Transit at (626) 744-4055 and select option 2.
Voters can find participating vote centers and official ballot drop boxes through the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk’s website at lavote.gov.
