Pasadena Transit Extends Hours Through Election Day, Offers Free Rides

[UPDATED] Pasadena Transit is extending hours on several of its bus lines and offering free rides, starting Saturday and continuing through Election Day on Tuesday, to help reduce crowding on public transportation as people make their way to the polls, according to the city.

The additional service is to be added on lines 20, 31/32 and 40, city officials said in a written statement.

“Anticipating additional ridership and large voter turnout, these service changes are important to maintaining your health and safety and are intended to help facilitate physical distancing while on Pasadena Transit vehicles,” the statement said. “Pasadena Transit and Dial-A-Ride are currently free to ride.”

Among the changes:

  • Sat., Oct. 31: Frequency will be increased on routes 20, 31/32 and 40 between normal service hours of 10:30 a.m. and 8 p.m.
  • Sun., Nov. 1: Frequency will be increased on routes 20, 31/32 and 40, and service will be extended until approximately 8 p.m.
  • Mon., Nov. 2: Frequency will be increased on routes 20, 31/32 between normal service hours of 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.
  • Sun., Nov. 1: Frequency will be increased on routes 20, 31/32, and service will be extended until approximately 9:30 p.m. Service will also be extended on Route 40 until approximately 9:30 p.m.

Route 20 can be used to reach voting centers at Robinson Park Recreation Center, the Pasadena Convention Center, Blair High School, Trinity Lutheran Church, Westminster Presbyterian Church, Washington Middle School and the Jackie Robinson Community Center drop box, officials said.

Route 31/32 takes passengers to the Victory Park Community Center voting center, the Washington Park drop box and Hastings Branch Library drop box.

Route 40 can be used to access voting centers at the Victory Park Community Center and Villa-Parke Community Center, as well as ballot drop boxes at the Hastings Branch Library and Pasadena City Hall.

Route 10 goes to voting centers at Pasadena City College, First United Methodist Church and the Pasadena Convention Center, along with drop boxes at Grant Park and Pasadena City Hall.

Route 51 can be used to reach the voting center at the Rosemont Pavilion and a drop box in Lot I of the Rose Bowl.

To help stem the spread of COVID0-19, Pasadena Transit and Dial-A-Ride have taken steps including frequent disinfection on buses, blocking of seating to maintain social distancing, limiting the number of passengers on buses, requiring rear boarding and mandating facial coverings, officials said.
