Pasadena will face prolonged high temperatures beginning Sunday. The National Weather Service issued a Heat Advisory and an Extreme Heat Watch covering much of Los Angeles County, including Pasadena, on Friday evening.
The Heat Advisory will remain in effect from 10 a.m. Sunday through 10 a.m. Tuesday, with temperatures expected to reach 89 to 93 degrees.
An Extreme Heat Watch will follow from Tuesday morning through Thursday evening, when temperatures could rise to 92 to 98 degrees, the agency said.
Forecasters warned of a high risk for dangerous heat illness, especially for young children, older adults, people without air conditioning, and those active outdoors. Sensitive populations face elevated risk throughout the advisory and watch period.
The National Weather Service urged residents to drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioned rooms, avoid direct sun exposure, and check on relatives and neighbors.
Officials also cautioned against leaving children or pets in unattended vehicles, noting that car interiors can reach lethal temperatures within minutes.
