Pasadena Unified School District begins its neighborhood school registration period for new students on December 3, launching enrollment for the 2025-26 academic year.
The District offers families multiple educational options, including attendance at neighborhood schools or specialized programs through Open Enrollment.
“In Pasadena Unified School District, you have options: you can attend your neighborhood school or apply through Open Enrollment to attend another school or to opt for programs like dual language immersion, magnets, International Baccalaureate, college and career high school academies, and much more,” according recently-issued to District materials.
Applications are being accepted through pusd.schoolmint.com during specific lottery periods.
The first lottery runs from January 8 at 9 a.m. to January 24, 2025, at 4 p.m., serving Transitional Kindergarten students residing in Pasadena Unified School District, families seeking dual language immersion programs, continuing Pasadena Unified School District students transferring to neighborhood schools, children of Pasadena Unified School District and City of Pasadena employees, and families who missed the sibling/program priority application period.
A second lottery period extends from January 25 at 9 a.m. to February 26 at 4 p.m., accommodating District residents who haven’t yet applied and out-of-district students requiring interdistrict permits.
The post-lottery period continues through August 1, 2025.
Transitional Kindergarten is available for children turning four years old by September 1, 2025. Applications are required for all Transitional Kindergarten students and must be completed through Pasadena Unified School District’s Open Enrollment process.
To help families make informed decisions, Pasadena Unified School District is offering school tours where prospective parents can “visit classrooms and meet staff, faculty, and parents” and “ask questions about quality instruction and learning environments.”
The Pasadena Education Network will host a virtual information session with a detailed overview of Open Enrollment on December 3 at 7 p.m., with Spanish interpretation available.
Parents can find their neighborhood school, register, and access tour information at pusd.us/Tours to see how the District is “accelerating achievement for all students.”
