Dr. Phlunté Riddle announced she has secured the endorsement of Pasadena Vice Mayor Steve Madison, marking another significant addition to her growing list of endorsements for her State Assembly campaign in District 41.
Pasadena City Councilmember Steve Madison said Riddle’s experience, background, and service to the community “makes her the best choice for State Assembly.”
“She helped protect our neighborhoods for 30 years, assisted Assemblymember Chris Holden in expanding the Gold Line, and helped to increase college access and vocational training for our students,” Madison said in a statement released by Riddle’s campaign. “Phlunté is committed to keeping our communities safe and expanding opportunities for everyone. I am proud to endorse her campaign for State Assembly.”
Assembly District 41 includes Pasadena, Altadena, La Cañada Flintridge, Sierra Madre, Monrovia, San Dimas, La Verne, Claremont, and Inland Empire communities. The seat is currently occupied by Assemblymember Chris Holden, who is term-limited in 2024.
“I am honored to have the support of these distinguished Pasadena leaders and am humbled by their support of my campaign for State Assembly,” Riddle said. “I look forward to fighting for our Foothill and High Desert Communities in Sacramento by tackling homelessness and moving people off our streets, keeping our communities safe, and protecting access to reproductive health care.”
Riddle’s campaign has earlier gained endorsements from other Pasadena City Council members including Tyron Hampton and Gene Masuda, former Pasadena Mayor William Paparian, former Pasadena Vice Mayor Jacque Robinson, and former Pasadena Councilmember Margaret McAustin, among others.
A seasoned leader with nearly 30 years of service at the Pasadena Police Department, Riddle has broken barriers and achieved several historic milestones, becoming the first African American female sergeant, lieutenant, and then sworn Adjutant to the Chief of Police. She currently serves as a Board of Juvenile Discharge Hearings Commissioner with California’s Division of Juvenile Justice.
Dr. Riddle received her doctorate specializing in psychology from Phillips Graduate Institute. She holds a Masters in Organizational Leadership from Woodbury University and a Bachelor’s in Public Administration from the University of La Verne. She is also a graduate of California Command College and a graduate of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia.
