Pasadena’s 2026 Black History Festival Returns Feb. 21, One Year After Eaton Fire

Pasadena’s 2026 Black History Festival will return to Robinson Park on Feb. 21, marking a year of community renewal following the Eaton Fire, according to information released by the City of Pasadena and the Pasadena Black History Committee.

The festival, scheduled from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 1081 N. Fair Oaks Ave., reflects what organizers describe as a powerful moment of renewal after the fire’s impact forced major changes to the 2025 celebration. Last year’s event canceled its parade and car show out of respect for local car and bike clubs whose classic vehicles were damaged or destroyed.

For 2026, the Black History Committee has decided to cancel the traditional parade again, focusing its efforts on fire recovery and honoring the community’s current landscape. The Committee will deliver an expanded festival experience, including the much-anticipated return of the classic car show and activities honoring the tradition of Pasadena’s historic parade.

Festival highlights include youth performances showcasing local middle and high school talent, live entertainment from artists representing Pasadena’s cultural community, food trucks, and community resource booths staffed by local organizations.

Organizers said several parade elements will be incorporated directly into the festivities, including special acknowledgements of Grand Marshal honorees and youth performances.

Organizers encourage the public to join in this year’s celebration, which “continues to uplift Black history, highlight community strength, and honor the spirit of resilience that defined last year’s recovery-focused festival,” according to the announcement.

The Black History Planning Committee is calling on residents, organizations, and supporters to volunteer and help bring this year’s festival to life. Volunteers will support planning, coordination, outreach, the car show, and on-the-ground festival logistics.

“We are looking for passionate volunteers to help us celebrate and honor the rich history, culture, and achievements of Pasadena’s culturally diverse African American community,” Committee Co-Chair Pixie Boyden said in the statement.
