Tetra Tech, Inc., the consulting and engineering firm headquartered on East Foothill Boulevard, has been selected by the City of Los Angeles Harbor Department for a three-year agreement to provide environmental engineering and technical services at the Port of Los Angeles, the company announced Monday.
The deal extends a relationship that began in 1993, according to the company’s press release, making Tetra Tech a continuous environmental services provider at the nation’s busiest container port for more than three decades. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Under the agreement, Tetra Tech scientists, engineers, and technical specialists will provide environmental site assessment and restoration services across the port’s 7,500 acres of land and 43 miles of waterfront, according to the press release. The scope includes stormwater and groundwater monitoring, compliance assessments, remedial investigations, and the planning and implementation of remedial actions to restore impacted properties.
The Port of Los Angeles, which has ranked as the top container port in the Western Hemisphere for 26 consecutive years, is in the midst of a multi-year, $2.6 billion infrastructure investment program aimed at increasing cargo efficiency and incorporating new technologies, according to the port’s official description.
“Tetra Tech has provided environmental science and engineering solutions to support the Port of Los Angeles in its groundbreaking environmental initiatives and commitment to responsibly managing resources for more than 30 years,” Roger Argus, Tetra Tech’s chief executive officer, said in the press release.
The contract is the first Port of Los Angeles agreement announced since Argus became CEO on February 19, 2026, succeeding Dan Batrack, who led the company for more than 20 years and transitioned to executive chairman. Argus, a chemical engineer, has been with Tetra Tech for more than 30 years, according to the company.
Tetra Tech (NASDAQ: TTEK) is headquartered at 3475 East Foothill Boulevard in Pasadena. Founded in 1966, the company has grown to employ more than 25,000 people worldwide, providing consulting and engineering services focused on water, environment, and sustainable infrastructure, according to its press release.
The company has separately provided air quality services to both the Port of Los Angeles and the Port of Long Beach since 1991, according to its website. That work included supporting the ports’ Clean Trucks Program, which the Climate Change Business Journal recognized with a 2021 Project Merit Award in the greenhouse gas emissions category, according to the company.
The port agreement adds to a run of contract wins announced by the Pasadena firm in recent months. Since early 2026, the company has disclosed a $100 million environmental services contract with the Air Force Civil Engineer Center, a $99 million Navy architect-engineer services contract through a joint venture with Mason & Hanger, and a $49 million contract with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, according to company press releases.
“We look forward to continuing to use our Leading with Science approach to support POLA in facilitating global trade while protecting human health and the environment,” Argus said.
